Day 12: Stamping Mixed Media: part 2 (layered canvas)

Hello friends!  Be sure to click on the 31 Days of Stamping Mixed Media link to the right of the blog to see part 1 of this post.  Here is where we left off; now the base is dry:

Next, I stamped the verse I wanted from Inspired Stamps:  LABELMAKER VERSES:
I tore out the first 3 words individually and left the last 3 as a set:  inking the edges:
I wanted to tone down some of the areas so I applied gesso with a paper towel:
I used a stamp from Inspired Stamps: BACKGROUND STAMPS and inked up a small section of it to stamp onto the canvas.  Clear stamps are great to use for this technique!
You can also apply paint to the clear stamp and press it to the canvas as shown in the next 2 photos:

Just rinse off your stamp with clean water after using and your stamp will be fine!  Next I took HLO: praying boy and inked him up, matted him with black paper, and used foam to give him dimension:
I used Momento black ink on the edges (you can use black paint, if you prefer):
I stamped another stamp (the distressed song 'Holy Holy Holy' from BACKGROUND STAMPS) inked and matted it and then put the character with his mat on top before putting some white paint onto a toothbrush and flicking white splatters onto the entire canvas:
I love charcoal pencils and used them on several places in this canvas; a stump will then blend it out:
I added some metal, pearl brads, a flower, and bow to the canvas for this finished view:

I stamped the word PRAISE from the Labelmaker Verses in white ink at the bottom and added a metal arrow and more pearl spots to it.

I wish you could see this in person; I really really love the way it turned out and as good as photos are, they just don't capture the deep tones in this piece!

How is YOUR stamping mixed media coming?  Saturday Belinda has a post for us; Sunday is our Gratitude Art day; Monday DeNetra is back with a tutorial and then I'll be back on Tuesday for some Art Journaling fun!

Have a blessed day and thank you so much for stopping by and for any comments you leave!  We love to hear from you!

Day 11 Stamping Mixed Media: Design Team LAYERED CARDS!

Hello friends!
Today the Design Team is showing you how to do layers on cards!  Remember, mixed media is simply using more than one type of media.  Above, for example, Kary has used Copic markers, paper, tape,a button, twine, Inspired Stamps:  HLO: girl with star and TIME sets... and more to create her beautiful card!  Card makers ARE mixed media artists!!  Let's see some more of these LAYERED CARDS:

Be sure to come back by Friday evening for part 2 of our Day 10 Stamping Mixed Media Canvas!
Have a blessed day!

Day 10 Stamping Mixed Media: layers of mediums (part 1)

Hello friends!
Today is a two part tutorial on adding different layers of mediums that we will finish up on Friday.  First I tore up some old hymnals ( I collect hymnals for my art...love using them in many different ways!):
Then, I used regular Gel Medium to glue the pieces in different directions all over my 8x 10 canvas and dried this with my hair dryer:

I sprayed yellow, red, and walnut ink color mists over this using water and dabbing with a paper towel over areas I wanted lighter (this only works if you have the gel medium over the part you want lighter...otherwise the paper will absorb your color and you can't make it lighter with this method):

Such as ALLELUIA which I wanted to show through this piece:
Next, I used a palette knife to layer some gloss super heavy gel onto parts of my canvas.  This is the reason this tutorial is in two parts....you REALLY need it to dry overnight when you use this in heavy amounts!
I added a few hangers to this wet super heavy gloss too as it works as a great adhesive!
I'll be back with this on FRIDAY with the remainder of this tutorial and more layers!

Thursday is our DT post with lots of CARD LAYERS so be sure to come see that one!
Blessings,
Antoinette

Day 10 Stamping Mixed Media: Packaging!

Hello friends!

Today I have a very mixed media stamped packaging idea for you!  I have so many graduation gifts to present this year and neither of my own have a graduation until next year!!

Hayley is the first, and she graduated from college this past Sunday.  She's artsy so I wanted to do something artsy for her!

Here's how I wrapped her present and addressed her card:
First I taped the kraft wrapping paper to a big black board (it wanted to curl!):
Next I used some dark gray color mist to squirt some subtle pattern using this mesh a student gave me last year:
I also used one of the graduation caps to glimmer mist some gold color (school color):

Then I randomly stamped some flowers from the INSPIRED STAMPS:  Spring Sketches set on it:
I wrapped the package and added washi tape, sparkles, a prima jeweled flower and some graduation stickers to finish it off.  Hayley, was stamped using our most popular alphabet stamp set:  Elegant Dotty Alphabet:
Lots of different embellishments on this packaging!
Wednesday I have some great layering to show you with several different media on canvas so be sure to come by and see it!
Blessings,
Antoinette
